Hey, I'm the z1ider - simply a photography enthusiast, who enjoys making pictures for fun. Whether they're technically good or not doesn't really bother me, as long I get enjoyment from my hobby.

Although I know a bit about technique, I don't claim to be an expert and the technicalities are not really important to me. I usually just take pictures and then see what I can make of them.

The work of processing and manipulating the photo's on the PC is just as much fun to me, and much easier now that we togs don't need to work in  a dark-room full of smelly and corrosive chemicals!

about the site

This site serves no other purpose than to host some of my photographs. and my photoBlog. If people visit, stay a while and like what they see, then that's great.

equipment

In the gadget bag:

  • Canon EOS 350D DSLR
  • Canon EF-S 18-55 (yes, the not-so-crappy kit lens!)
  • Sigma EX DC HSM 10-20 (mucho wacky wide angles)
  • Tamron LD DiII 55-200
  • A couple of small flashguns (not TTL owt anything fancy)
  • Polarising filter (about the only effect you can't do in PP)
  • 40" folding reflector

In the home studio:

  • 1 x 400W & 1 x 200W flash head c/w gold and white brollies
  • Cheap wireless trigger bought from eBay, performs faultlessly
  • Various home-made reflectors, backdrops and a DIY light tent

On the PC:

  • Adobe Lightroom 2.3
  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 + a shed-load of filters
  • Microsoft Expression Web 2.0
